About Me

I never actually planned on starting my own brand. During a trip to Morocco, I fell completely in love with the country, the chaos, the colors, and the craft.

While wandering through the souks in the medina, I stumbled upon these beautiful Sabra pillows. I took a few back home to the Netherlands, and friends and family asked where I got them. This sparked the idea to start Sabraloom.

So I flew back to Morocco to find the most beautiful pillows and bring them to the Netherlands to share with you.

But Morocco gave me much more than just a business, it also gave me love! My partner lives there, and that's why I travel there so often.

Every purchase you make not only supports the talented artisans who make these pillows, it also allows me to keep exploring Morocco, finding new treasures, and spending time with my partner.

The Material

What is Cactus Silk?

Also known as Sabra, cactus silk is a vegan, sustainable fiber traditionally harvested from the Saharan aloe vera plant. I absolutely love how the artisans spin these resilient fibers into lustrous threads and dye them with natural botanical pigments. The colors they create capture the true essence of the Moroccan landscape.

The Craft

Woven by Hand

Every single SabraLoom piece is meticulously hand-loomed in the Atlas Mountains by the master weavers I partner with. The whole process is wonderfully slow and intentional, requiring so much patience. To me, the slight variations in color and weave aren't imperfections—they're the very signature of the human touch.
